1. TPUSA Faith and Sean Feucht to Pierre, SD
I just Recently attended TPUSA Faith’s Kingdom to the Capitol in Pierre, SD , Friday, August 25th, 2023. Short video here. Full video here. Notable attendees, were South Dakota AG Marty Jackley (hired to defend state’s lone billionaire in child pornography case), SD Representative Karla Lems, and SD Schools and Public Lands Commissioner Brock Greenfield (who threw fellow legislators under the bus during “Drunk Fest”, also advised by Jackley in what many considered a “sham committee”.
Other pastors and Christian leaders also attended the event.
2. My Involvement
I was initially a part of the discussion with TPUSA Faith Regional Director, Kayla Cross, and had planned to meet with a small group of pastor/ministry leaders before the event, and possibly pray/speak at the beginning (which I understand is typical of these events). I was unable to do either because of a schedule conflict. I was also there to observe what took place.
3. South Dakota and Midwest Christian History.
The cornerstone of Awakening/Revival is getting back to the Scriptures and obeying God. My desire was to share the True Christian History of the Midwest, and South Dakota in particular. I too, had a Revival/Awakening event at the Capitol back in March, 2023 (video preview here), and I have spoken on the Christian History of South Dakota and the Midwest in General (1876 Midwest Miracle). To my knowledge, no event has ever sought to share the Christian History of South Dakota at the SD Capitol, besides the aforementioned one.
4. TPUSA
I generally support the work of Charlie Kirk at TPUSA, even though they were late to the game when it came to unmasking the 2020-21 COVID “Vaccines” and the stolen election (Neither Mike Lindell of Frankspeech.com nor America’s Frontline Doctors (AFLDS) were invited to speak at the TPUSA event in Phoenix, AZ in December of 2021). I know the vendor who had the AFLDS booth at the event and were not invited to tell people from the stage that people were being killed by the shots and how to cure COVID (Clay Clark’s ReAwaken America Tour was doing so) …Charlie seems to have come around since then as Lindell spoke at America Fest in 2022, and Charlie has been critical of the COVID vaccines.
5. Sean Feucht
Sean Feucht became popular through his leading worship in major cities in the USA during COVID lockdowns. He has been associated with Bethel Music and Bethel Church in Redding, California, home to false teacher Bill Johnson. Although there has seemingly been a move to distance themselves from each other in some way. Bill Johnson was largely exposed when the hit documentary American Gospel: Christ Alone, came out in 2018 (free 1 hour YouTube version here), regarding his herectical view, denying the full deity of Christ (watch full movie here). For the record, I don’t agree with everyone in the video, and I have charismatic beliefs myself. But the video was honest about much of what goes on in the new charismatic movement. Bill Johnson has attempted to “walk back” the statement made in his book. Costi Hinn (Converted nephew of false teacher Benny Hinn, lays out an understanding of Bill Johnson’s movement) I don’t know Sean’s views on all of this, but we need to understand people as individuals and not put everyone “in a box” just because they were associated with someone at some time. Now, that is obviously a different case if he knowingly backs heresy.
Here were some powerful responses the American Gospel exposé:

6. Jon Root, former (as of 2023) TPUSA LIVE host,
Jon Root has also called Bill Johnson, among others, a false teacher. Rightly so. Here is his Twitter thread. He also includes: Kenneth Copeland, Joel Osteen, Mark Driscoll, Paula White, Lance Wallnau (interesting), Steven Furtick, Andy Stanley, Greg Locke, Todd White, TD Jakes, Joyce Meyer, and Rick Warren, among others… The common denominator among these people is false prosperity preaching, false signs and wonders, false prophecy, sinful behavior, and/or heretical theology (“prosperity”, “signs and wonders”, “prophecy”, etc. are not necessarily bad).
7. What are some “Positives” to take away?
I appreciate the persecution that Sean Feucht has endured. I also appreciate his stands for liberty and his stands against sin, speaking about freedom in Christ, etc. Sean details the persecution here:
“At a recent "Let Us Worship" event in Boulder, Colorado, LGTBQIA activists joined forces with Antifa to attack our peaceful Christian worship event ... on private church property! In the presence of thousands of peaceful Christians worshiping, and many children, they marched around the event with the most vulgar and sexually explicit signs while shouting and screaming profanities, and blowing sirens and bullhorns.” (Charisma News, November 2022)
8. Sean Feucht’s message is often simplistic.
His messages and lyrics are not overly theological and “heady”. And his phrases and songs can be repetitive and “general” in their message (“God is good. Come find freedom”). There seems to be some precedence for this. In Matthew 21, Jesus cleanses the temple of money changers and heals the blind and the lame. The religious authorities were indignant. Christ replied with:
“‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants
You have perfected praise’…” (Psalm 8:16, NKJV)
9. People are Seeking Christ:
It is good to see people seeking Christ. Sean Feucht’s events are filled with people seeking God, and willing to be counted publicly, another key factor in New Testament Christianity. People are seeking freedom from sin, illness, etc. After all, in the New Testament, Blind Bartimaeus wouldn’t be silent in his seeking Christ. He was rewarded:
48 Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
49 So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called (Mark 10:46-52, NKJV)
Also, God ultimately knows what everyone’s motives and true desires are. God can reach people in spite of the minister, or the ministry…
Here, a woman with illness, sought Christ.
20 And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. 21 For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.” 22 But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour. (Matthew 9:20-22, NKJV).
10. Historical Awakenings and Revival: A Comparison
One of the Notable absences from modern day revival/awakening are declarations of God’s Law, God’s justice and wrath (Hell), and repentance (turning from sin). To Sean’s credit, his does talk about repentance, but I don’t hear a lot of the others…Here are examples of time-tested historical revivals:
George Whitefield, 1700s American and Great Britain Evangelist, Leader in The First Great Awakening:
“And think you, O sinner, that you will be able to stand in the day of judgment, if Christ be not your righteousness? No, that alone is the wedding garment in which you must appear. O Christless sinners, I am distressed for you!” (Sermon 14)
Also, note Whitefield’s stance on the importance of the Law of God (which is seldom mentioned for fear of being labeled “judgmental”) in preaching:
“What is this that you have done?” God would here awaken her to a sense of her crime and anger, and therefore, as it were, thunder in her ears: for the Law must be preached to self-righteous sinners. Secure sinners must hear the thunderings of Mount Sinai, before we bring them to Mount Zion. They, who never preach up the Law, it is to be feared, are unskillful in delivering the glad tidings of the gospel.” (Sermon: “The Seed of the Women…”)
Duncan Campbell, preacher during the Hebrides Revival [Scotland], 1949-52 (Text Sermons here):
“Nor could I ever doubt the Baptism of the Holy Spirit -- brethren, explain it as you will, to me it was a baptism from on high, and if in any small measure God has been pleased to use me, it is all because of what He did for me that night, when two things became clear to me: Christ's willingness to save the 'whosoever,' and the awful state of the eternally lost in hell. That is what revival has meant to me, personally; and is not that just what happens in a general sense in the community.” (Address on Revival, bold, underline mine).
Pastor Jonathan Edwards preached one of the most famous sermons during America’s First Great Awakening, in July of 1742. The sermon was called “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God”. Here was the reaction to the sermon [note: “yt” is old English for “that”] :
“We went over to Enfl—where we met dear Mr. E. [Edwards] of N.H. [Northampton, Mass.], who preached a most awakening sermon from Deut 32,35, and before sermon was done there was a great moaning and crying through ye whole House, what Shall I do to be Sav’d—oh, I am going to Hell—oh, what shall I do for Christ., &c., &c., so yt ye minister was obliged to desist, ye shrieks and crys were piercing and amazing—after Some time of waiting, the congregation were still, so yt a prayer was made by Mr. W. and after that we descendd from the pulpitt and discoursed with the people—Some in one place and Some in another—and Amazing and Astonishing ye power of God was Seen—and Several Souls were hopefully wrought upon yt night, and oh ye cheerfulness and pleasantness of their countenances yt received comfort—oh yt God wd strengthen and confirm—we sung a hymn and pray’d and dismiss’d ye Assembly.” (Diary of Reverend Stephen Williams of Longmeadow, Massachusetts who attended the sermon, Enfield Historical Society)
11. Should we be Critical?
Often, any criticism, even from genuine supporters, gets shot down by supporters of anything called “Revival”. ONE THING IS CERTAIN, IF IT IS A REVIVAL, IT WILL INVITE CRITICISM BY BIBLICAL STANDARDS AND WON’T SHY FROM TRANSPARENCY (THE HALLMARKS OF TRUE REVIVAL). NO BIBLICAL CRITICISM: NO REVIVAL . Scripture is clear: “Test all things; hold fast what is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21, NKJV) Jonathan Edwards, considered the greatest theologian in American history, also a leader in the First Great Awakening, wrote this about testing a revival:
“My design therefore at this time is to show what are the true, certain, and distinguishing evidences of a work of the Spirit of God, by which we may safely proceed in judging of any operation we find in ourselves, or see in others. And here I would observe, that we are to take the Scriptures as our guide in such cases.” (Distinguishing Marks…,bold, underline mine).
12. Also, Emotions are Temporary and Not Absolute Marks of God’s Spririt
People can be emotional for numerous reasons, as they are at Sean Feucht’s events. Scripture states there is “godly sorrow” [genuine conviction and conversion] and “sorrow of the world” [sinful and fleshly"] (2 Cor. 7:10, NKJV).
Once again, Jonathan Edwards cautioned that emotions are not proof one way or the other, for being a mark of God’s Spirit:
“A work is not to be judged of by any effects on the bodies of men; such as tears, trembling, groans, loud outcries, agonies of body, or the failing of bodily strength. The influence persons are under, is not to be judged of one way or other, by such effects on the body; and the reason is, because the Scripture nowhere gives us any such rule. We cannot conclude that persons are under the influence of the true Spirit because we see such effects upon their bodies, because this is not given as a mark of the true Spirit; nor on the other hand, have we any reason to conclude, from any such outward appearances, that persons are not under the influence of the Spirit of God, because there is no rule of Scripture given us to judge of spirits by, that does either expressly or indirectly exclude such effects on the body, nor does reason exclude them.”
((Distinguishing Marks…,bold, underline mine).
13. Conclusion.
Sean Feucht is doing what no other ministry is doing, save Franklin Graham in 2016. There are many positives from him declaring in public, in all 50 states, that “Jesus saves”. Anyone that is critical, would be wise to do likewise. And if they can do better, let them:
21 So that servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the [f]maimed and the lame and the blind.’ 22 And the servant said, ‘Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.’ 23 Then the master said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. 24 For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper.’” ( Luke 14 )
Video Conversations
Matthew interviewed several staff members with Kingdom to the Capitol. They generally centered around Revival, obedience, getting outside the four walls of the church, and persecution.
